Spring fishing update

Posted 09/05/2023 : By: Will & Sarah Draper

After a cold start to the year that persisted well into April we are happy to say that the weather is now much improved: it’s a little wet but the temperature is steadily rising, and that is the important thing for the fish. As poikilotherms, fish take their temperature from the water they inhabit, and as a result the warmer the water the more energetic they are.

At warmer temperatures their instinct to forage for food kicks in – especially for larger fish such as carp and tench – and that is good news for anglers! As a result, our guests have been getting into some good fish over the last month or so. We’ve had carp to 16lbs, tench to 3lbs, bream to 4lbs and many decent roach and rudd of over a pound.

Just to whet your appetite, we thought we’d share a few of the pictures!
